SAKSHI – Empowering Communities through Education and Equality
Established in 1993, SAKSHI is a non-profit voluntary organization registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, the Foreign Contribution Act, and Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. Our mission is to foster sustainable community development by focusing on Education, Hygiene, and providing equal opportunities to all.
We firmly believe that Education, Health, and Community Development form the bedrock of sustainable growth for individuals and society at large. With this belief at our core, SAKSHI has dedicated itself to creating a transformative pathway. By bridging the gap between poverty and prosperity, we are nurturing spaces and opportunities that empower the marginalized sections of society.
OUR JOURNEY
In 1990, upon his return to India after years of working in public health abroad, Dr. Dharam Anand, Sakshi’s Co-founder, discovered a dire situation. Millions of displaced farmers and rural poor had migrated to urban areas such as Delhi, seeking better prospects, only to find themselves living in extreme poverty within unauthorized settlements devoid of essential amenities like water, sanitation, electricity, and proper shelter.
“Transforming the lives of neglected section of the society by enabling and providing them the tools and infrastructure to actualize their aspirations and hopes.”
